Winter Air Sealing

Thursday, November 20th, 2014 by Anthony Picarello

During the winter months, it is crucially important to keep air sealing products warm. Cold foam, caulk, and mastic products can cause major headaches when they fail to dispense, adhere, or cure well.

  • Always follow product labels and instructions.
  • Always store sealants above 70 degrees.
  • Plan ahead! Bring sealants up to temperature before use: 24 to 48 hours in at least a 70 degree environment. Canisters that were stored at lower temperatures will take longer to warm up.
  • Purchase a cynlinder wrap or sealant warmer to help maintain a good core temperature.
